Slowey but Surely Charity Cycle

Charity Cycle in memory of the Late Gerard & Margaret Slowey
Each year since our late mother, Margaret passed away in 2009, our father, Gerard organised an Annual BBQ fundraiser to raise money for Cancer Care West, who looked after our mother so well during her battle with Cancer. Unfortunately, Dad passed away suddenly in 2016 and since then, we (Aine, Mairead & Anthony) have taken up the mantle to carry on the annual BBQ tradition to continue to raise money for Cancer Care West as well as other important charities.
Like a lot of fundraisers that have been impacted by Covid-19, the BBQ can not go ahead this year under current guidelines and public health is our ultimate priority. However, we want to keep up the tradition of an annual fundraiser, so a brave crew have decided to cycle from Maynooth in Co. Kildare to Ardara, Co. Donegal over 2 days (11th/12th Sept).
This year we will share the proceeds between two charities; Cancer Care West & The Kevin Bell Repatriation fund. Any donation is much appreciated for these deserving charities who do such great work.
Cancer Care West – Donegal Cancer Support Centre located on Pease Road Letterkenny provides supports throughout your cancer journey, including psychologists, oncology nurses and a range of qualified cancer support specialists. They also provide a Psycho-Oncology counselling service into the local hospital at Letterkenny University Hospital for patients affected by cancer.
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust - aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the body (bodies) of loved one(s) who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland.
