Sisters of Bon Secours Challenge to End Hunger

Hi, my name is Sr. Fran. I am a Sister of Bon Secours in the United States. As a part of National Catholic Sisters Week, I am raising money with other Sisters with the Leadership Conference of Women Religious to end hunger. 690 million people worldwide go to bed hungry every night. Our goal is to raise $500 during the week of March 8-14, 2021 to feed our brothers and sisters. If we reach our goal, I pledge to dye my hair green and share the results with you all! (an added plus is that I can honor my Irish ancestors).
Funds will be donated to Bon Secours Community Works’ (BSCW) Food Access and Urban Farm Program. BSCW utilizes a three-fold approach to food access work: production, distribution and education. Production - we grow fresh vegetables on our ¼ acre Urban Farm located across the street from our main community center on N. Fulton Avenue in West Baltimore. Distribution - the food is harvested and distributed to food insecure families in West Baltimore through our weekly delivery program and our Mobile Market, which sets up at strategic locations throughout the community. Education - we know that it is not enough to just provide access to healthy food, so we host nutritional cooking courses on how to prepare the same produce that we deliver to families.
