Sister seeks brothers next breath
Spende geschützt
Have you ever watched someone you love struggle for their next breath and felt helpless? Watched someone you love die?
What if you didn't have to? What if there was a pill that they could take that improves their way of life so much that for the first time in their life, instead of a constant regression, their breathing improves? What if the person you love who has trouble just standing in the kitchen to make a meal without leaning on the counter to catch their breathe could run a 5k? Felt what it was like to be healthy? What if you could keep them from suffocating? What if you could keep them from dying? What if the pill was within their grasp, but the insurance company said no.
My brother would never ask for this. We come from a long line of folks who never ask for help. But this medicine exists. It is called Trikafta. His doctor is willing to prescribe it, insurance continues to deny it. If we can get this year paid for, they cannot say no the next.
My family and I know that the holidays are tight but we've come up with a plan. If everyone who sees this donated just one dollar and promised to share it with or send it to ten people who they know would also donate a dollar, he could breathe by the new year.
By June, My brother could go from gasping for his next breathe in conversation, to running that 5k. We would promise to hand write the name of each person who donated so that they could cross the finish line with him. It is a dollar a breath.
Please help me save my brother.
