Sinon.JS is an open source library for testing JavaScript, run as a community project.
Over its 10 years of history, the library attracted thousands of developers and was downloaded more than 10 million times in October 2019 and almost 100 million times throughout last year. This is really amazing!
We, the stewards of Sinon.JS, think that users deserve a better documentation site, so everyone using the library can be more productive.
Taking on a large project like this requires longer dedication of time than the maintainers have been able to find, since we all have full-time jobs requiring our attention. We have detailed ideas on what a new documentation site would look like, now we need to find the time.
As luck would have it that Morgan, one of the Sinon core members, has availability in the first quarter of the year. This is our opportunity to get the new documentation site built!
With your support, Morgan and a designer can dedicate February to focus on:
* Building a new instructional site at https://sinonjs.org
* Writing more instructional material to make Sinon easier to get started with
* Building a new site for API documentation at https://sinonjs.org/api
* Refreshing the design with the help of a professional web designer
The funds collected in this campaign will go to Morgan for working full time for a month and to pay a professional designer to refresh the design.
We're hoping to have collected at least 1,000€ by February 1st, to start things off and 10,000€ by the end of February 2020.
We will make a page thanking the donors by name. Companies donating 500€ or more can have their logo displayed prominently on the page.
Any funds collected beyond the stated goal, will be donated to the Sinon Open Collective and will be used towards future expenses like another hack weekend with the maintainers, paying for hosting, domains and the like.
Your support will mean that the new documentation can become a reality and everyone can enjoy being more productive with Sinon.
