My brilliant, compassionate, and loving friend is a single mother who was previously married to a very controlling and harsh man. When they separated, he verbally agreed to share custody of their four children equally, but he quickly began denying her access to them. He changed all their bank accounts and did not allow her access to any of their money or vehicles. As a result, she had to rebuild her life from scratch after being a stay-at-home mother for 12 years. She has been working multiple jobs for many hours a week just to pay rent and have a vehicle, which she uses for work.
Because of her low income, she was unable to hire ongoing representation, and her ex-husband was able to get an extremely unfair parenting plan. She is only allowed to see her children 4 days a month, which is every other weekend. There was no reason for this horrible settlement other than the fact that he had the money to complete the process. Additionally, my friend has to pay him child support despite the fact that he made 5 times more working one day a week than she did working 7 days a week.
The unfair settlement was not enough for him, however. He recently took the children out of their school without telling her and moved to a state 11 hours away. He says they are now based out of that state and will not be bringing them back for her visitation. This is a violation of their parenting plan in several ways. However, she will need to seek representation to enforce the plan, which requires money.
We are trying to raise at least $5000 for her because we have been told that it will take at least that much to get anything done. I have included $500 to cover the fees from Go Fund Me and the payment processors.
If you contribute, you will be helping reunite a mother with her children. She barely gets one very short phone call a week with them, and they are not allowed to contact her in any other way. Usually the father is listening in and will only allow 10 minutes to be split among 4 children. She was able to FaceTime with them privately yesterday, and they were all crying because they miss her.
The children have been distraught throughout this entire process -- for two years -- and their father continues to make matters worse for them. I cannot give more details since this will be public, but it is a very disturbing situation, especially for the daughters.
Thank you so so so so much for contributing to help. Every single cent will be used to help reunite this mother with her children. The money will be used for representation and travel expenses to pick up the children. If there is any remaining after that is paid (which would truly be a miracle), it will go towards living expenses for this amazing mother and her four beautiful, brilliant, creative children.
