Groceries for Single-Mother Family
Donation protected
We are raising money to help out 10 single mothers and their children during the holidays.
Our goal is to provide a month’s worth of groceries for all 10 families. The plan is to raise $4,000 total and divide it evenly so that each family receives a $400 gift card to their local grocery store.
Raising children is extremely expensive (especially in New York) and even more difficult for a single parent. Food alone can amount to well over a $500 monthly bill, depending on the size of family. The holidays often add even more pressure on an already stressful situation.
Our gift will free up money that can be spent on the children and any pressing family needs during the holiday season.
The picture above was taken with two of the three families we helped last year. Both mothers are raising three children each and work multiple jobs because they are forced to assume all the medical bills and living expenses by themselves.
Although $4,000 is a daunting number, I’m confident that it can be met with many small donations – trust me when I say that everything helps, no matter how small.
No one gets through life alone. By giving these great families gift cards last year, we did more than lessen the heightened financial burden of the holidays. We showed them that they are not alone. Let’s do it again…
