Simone Bannatee (nee Eberhardt) 03/07/72 – 05/02/20
Simone, a vibrant, generous, hardworking and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunty, friend and teacher, tragically and unexpectedly passed away whilst sleeping in her family home. She has left behind her loving husband Yute, children Ziggy, Molly and Oscar, father Robert, sister Kim and nieces Maddy, Jordyn and Shaylee.
As one of earth’s angels, Simone left a lasting impression with all who knew and adored her. She had a deeply caring and generous heart, always selflessly putting everyone else’s needs above hers. With an unwavering love for her family, friends and students, Simone always did whatever it took to help those around her to be happy and the very best they could be. She was the most kind, loyal, funny, and fun-loving friend to so many, who are now left stunned, grief-stricken and broken-hearted with her passing.
Yute and their kids Ziggy (14), Molly (12) and Oscar (10) were the loves of Simone’s life. Simone cherished Yute, adored and supported his talents as an artist from the moment she met him. She held a firm belief in keeping a strong connection with Yute’s Thai family and heritage, working hard to save enough for the family to visit relatives in Thailand every 3 years or so. Simone and Yute did everything they could for Ziggy, Molly and Oscar to pursue their sports, talents and dreams, including high level soccer, netball and dancing. Ziggy’s soccer talents qualified him to play in Portugal and Spain in January, helped only with funding support from Yute’s art sales, family and friends.
Simone and Yute built a loving home for their family, including an independent yet inclusive living space for Simone’s parents. Eighteen months ago, they made adjustments to the house when Simone’s dad Robert became wheelchair-bound after back surgery complications. In August 2019, Simone’s beautiful mum Marlene passed away suddenly, which devastated and shook the whole family to the core. The difficult, stressful months that followed saw Robert hospitalised for pneumonia and heart surgery, then Yute’s dad passed away in Thailand in late October after battling illness in hospital for a month. This tragic course of events, now compounded by Simone’s sudden and unexpected passing have to be the most unfair, overwhelming, heart-wrenching times that this family has had to bear.
The main source of income in the Bannatee household came from Simone’s role as a long serving and highly respected teacher, supported by Yute’s work at the local supermarket. We can’t begin to imagine the stress of the financial burden left with Yute now, as a sole parent in continuing to pursue the dreams that he and Simone held for their family. The uncertainty of achieving an income that will cover essential everyday expenses, medical needs, education, sports, mental and emotional support into the future, is daunting to say the least.
This GoFundMe appeal aims to assist Yute, his children and Robert to maintain some stability in their family home, help with funeral expenses in laying Simone to rest, and to ensure Ziggy, Molly and Oscar can complete their education and pursue their passions, as Simone and Yute had always dreamed.
