Silver Linings Community Meals

Want to join me in making a difference and have your donation matched? I am the President and a founding member (2017!) of Deming Silver Linings. I'm raising money to benefit Deming Silver Linings Community Lunch Program, and any donation will make a double impact. The City of Deming will match up to $25,000 in donations and a private sponsor will match another $5,000!!!!! Our total goal of $60,000 will fund our Community Lunch Program for a whole year!

Silver Linings serve a hot nutritious lunch Monday-Thursday for anyone who is hungry. In our Resource Center we distribute snack bags for folks who have no way of cooking and serve coffee every day.

By the end of 2022 we will have served 17,264 meals, 2,863 snack bags and 2,985 coffee/hot chocolates. That makes the average cost per serving just $2.60. The total goal will cover all costs of the lunch program for a full year: food supplies, serving containers and take out supplies, kitchen manager salary, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, small equipment replacement. EVERYTHING!

More about our whole program: Deming Silver Linings exists to serve the homeless population of Deming and Luna County in southern New Mexico. We provide free hot lunches to any hungry person, clothing, emergency food, showers, toiletries, pet food, laundry service and a place to get out of the hot desert sun. A S.P.I.N. (Supporting People in Need) Peer-Support counselor is available to assist with documents and program applications. We also refer individuals to other local helping agencies and medical services. Small group sessions to address individual challenges are starting in December 2022. Long-term goals include emergency shelter, supportive housing, case management.
