Silas Green Wellness Fund: Recovery, Rest and Secure Housing
Donation protected
My name is Kyle. I perform as Silas Green (MC/DJ/Songwriter). I am in a group, Tree City, that just released our 2nd full-length album, PURE LEVELS, after 13 years' worth of work. I'm looking forward to performing and promoting this work for 2025.
I also exist as a Black American who seeks to challenge oppression and advocate for a more just and equitable society.
I've been able to work on music around the country and have co-founded the Mutual Aid Network of Ypsilanti and Defend Affordable Ypsi while serving as a Human Relations Commissioner, supporting political movements that thwarted gentrification of my hometown, Ypsilanti, MI.
These dual passions have informed much of my work throughout my life.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I faced unfortunate exiling from my home and was forced to relocate in the winter of 2022 to Los Angeles with all of my belongings. From 2022-2024, I migrated to Houston, TX, and attempted to settle there. However, further crises occurred, such as:
Physical injuries (broken hand and foot),
Mental health struggles (CPTSD, ADHD, MDD),
Medical abuse (TMS therapy led to malpractice, involuntary psych ward hold for a week without contact with the outside world),
Natural disasters (March 2024: Derecho / July 2024: Hurricane Beryl).
I am currently recovering from a fractured foot and need to devote time to physical therapy as well as prepare for hand surgery in 3/2025.
I have secured legal representation to recover 3/4 of my unpaid lost wages, but already have a notice to vacate on my door.
The tenant/landlord attorney I reached out to won't get back to me in 3 business days.
I'd rather just ask for donations and help directly.
My energy is very low after all of this, and I am making a request for financial assistance to combat the ROT (Results of Trauma / Republic of Texas).
The "2-1-1" line here is tapped out, and most of the social services are deliberately starved.
The workplace injury to homelessness pipeline is hard to escape when you are isolated.
I need help with a $1560 rent payment that I have not paid in full due to the overwhelming amount of demands and pressures I am tasked with handling alone at this point.
I also need an additional $1500 to cover auto repair from the Hurricane, medical bills, groceries and recovery of items that have been in storage since 2022.
I need to rest, not to ROT. (Resignation, Overwhelm, Tiredness)
