Sheryl and Valerie need a home

Donation protected

Please consider sharing. Hopefully someone will know some way we can get in a mobile home. We are running out of time. Thank you so much.

Our rental home and garden sanctuary of 14 years is being sold by the owner. My daughter Valerie and I are both disabled and we can’t grow into the next chapter of our lives without some love and support from you all.

A little about us:

I’m Sheryl and have been battling rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis since 2008 leaving me only collecting SSI. I enjoy my garden sanctuary immensely and hope to find a mobile home we can grow into.

My daughter Valerie was born disabled with bilateral Spengler Syndrome leaving her a very limited upper body range of motion. She’s battled through bullying with ease by her kindness yet shyness. She collects a small monthly SSI as well. In 2016 her father was hit by a drunk driver while working at his job leaving him in a wheelchair and traumatic brain injury leaving him in a skilled nursing facility. Valerie as a adult was his dependent and lost medical coverage and financial assistance he provided. Her and her brother now look after his care to be sure it’s the best it can be.

Challenges we face:

1. Our disabilities

Due to our disabilities we haven’t been able to get funding for even a mobile home. It’s mentally draining for myself with the fear of where are we going to end up. Spending most of my time researching our options which are extremely limited leaves me so exhausted along with my daily pain, some days it’s hard to function at all. But I don’t give up hope. Valerie is a trooper and really has my back and vice versa.

2. Our Pets

We also have 3 pets. One of them Valerie’s 22 year old cat, Frankie. She’s had this animal most of her life and to be asked to rehome him in order to rent some place is just not going to happen. Then I have my cat Leia 1 year old who has quickly become my total comfort companion. And then our 20 lb dog Tink who keeps us all in check. We are a well oiled family of pets and humans making it the best household. It seems beyond cruel to ask us to rehome them.

3. Rapidly changing housing market

Even though we weren’t the legal owner of our home it’s the closest we’ve really come to planting roots. Pretty much literally. It’s become our hobby and peace caring for our garden that will go with us. We’re forever grateful for our time here but now forced out in times none of us has endured before, it’s become clear we can’t do this alone. We all probably know someone struggling with this. I see it daily on social media and we must all stick together. We’ll continue to give the best of ourselves and pay it forward when we’re able to again. This will help us secure a home so we don’t find ourselves displaced again.

Our Goal

We don’t know where we’ll be moving yet, but we need a home. While prices continue to rise on houses so much. We’ve decided on buying a mobile home for us. While significantly less than a home it’s still more than we can secure without asking for your kind help. Even if you can just share it with everyone you know. We’d be forever grateful and hope it will go viral. Housing is a huge issue for seniors and disabled people. And I personally just can’t imagine us being homeless. This is a huge scary thought.

Where the money will go:

All funds will go toward the purchase of a mobile home for us to set roots and continue sharing our photos of our love and passion with you all.

We understand during this pandemic it’s been tough for everyone. So again even just a share will be appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time and kindness
