Sherborne Pride – raising a rainbow

On July 7th, 2024, Sherborne makes history with our first-ever Pride. From schools to businesses, charities to individuals, we're uniting Sherborne like never before. Up until now, you would have to drive an hour or more in any direction to attend an event of this kind. We’re raising a rainbow in Sherborne, Dorset.

It will be an all-day ‘festival’ in town that welcomes all. We're planning a vibrant parade through town, a fabulous street market on Digby Road, and a jam-packed programme of live entertainment in Pageant Gardens – from music and comedy to cabaret performers, musical theatre, drag, and more. We have a stellar line up, and Team Pride are pulling this together out of the goodness of their hearts, giving time, money and effort into making it spectacular! We feel passionate that this is a FREE event, that's why we're asking for kind donations from you to support our grassroots community organisation, making it fly high, and viable as an annual celebration.

But it's more than just a party; it's a stand against discrimination and a promotion of inclusivity and equality. Pride is for everyone, and the presence and support of those outside of the LGBTQIA+ community is just as important

as those within.

Why Pride Matters?

It’s hard to fully describe just how important Pride events are, not just for the

LGBTQIA+ community, but their families, allies, and all of us. It’s about creating a

loving and accepting world that we all want to live in.

Pride runs deeper than waving a rainbow flag in a colourful parade. It’s about

reclaiming a right to exist unapologetically, being free to express yourself authentically and feel accepted, and celebrating a community coming together in love, against hate.

For some, these events are a safe haven in a world that often tells them

they’re wrong for simply being themselves – for existing. Pride is a reminder that

we’re not alone; it’s a beacon of hope, showing us that progress is possible and

that our voices matter.

It’s about representation and providing role models for marginalised communities. Seeing ourselves in others empowers us to dream and believe in a world where love triumphs over hate.
