Shemiah strong... helping the Avery family
They really don’t have a goal they want to reach, they are just so appreciative of all that give. So thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts for your generosity!!!
Many people have reached out and asked how they can help with Shemiah being in the hospital so we figured this is one way people near and afar can help the Avery family through this incredibly hard time. Here is a little bit of Shemiah’s story......
I asked permission to post this so i can just keep everyone posted at once... Shemiah had hysterectomy surgery last Tuesday on 2/9, they sent her home but she wasn’t feeling good all week... Tim took her back to the ER Saturday evening to try and get her some relief and Sunday morning she coded. They took 9 min to revive her but we got her back. Ever since then she hasn’t woken up. She was at a small community hospital by their house and knew they needed to get her transferred to a better/bigger hospital where they can really help her further. Once here they took Shemiah into surgery and found a hole in her lower small intestine and closed it immediately, which clearly was the root of all the sickness and problems she was having since the original hysterectomy surgery. The hole caused sepsis and fluid inside her body so they cleaned her out during surgery but left her open so they could take her back in, make sure her organs are working on their own, then do one final clean out before closing her back up, and also so they wouldn’t have to re-open her, in case of an emergency. She has been on dialysis to clean our all her organs , as well. Yesterday they confirmed some brain damage from when she coded and took 9 min to get back to us, which is why she hasn’t woken up yet, however she isn’t completely brain dead and she is young so the Dr said this could possibly fix itself and we just have to play the waiting game to see. Which leads to today.... The dr called this morning at 10:30 central time, and told us that she had been breathing on her own since 7:30 AM, that’s 3 hours!!!!!! PRAISE God!! This is huge but clearly we need her to wake up and PLEASE PRAYER WARRIORS KEEP PRAYING!!!!! They take her back in to close shemiah up and do her final clean out today and we are all just here waiting to hear something. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, showed their love and care towards all of us here, this has been one really long week and it’s still a long road ahead...
