Sheehan Adoption Fund

Donation protected

Friends & family,

I have had the honor to walk through this incredibly difficult, painful and growing season of infertility and loss with my sister and brother-in-law. I have watched them pursue God’s best, while remaining painfully vulnerable walking through this season with others experiencing similar pain. They have been a such blessing to others despite such loss.

For as long as I can remember, Justin & Alethea have wanted to pursue adoption. Their adoption journey begins in the next few weeks as they pursue embryo adoption. This journey comes with a heavy financial burden. I wanted to start this page to bless Alethea & Justin, as they have been a blessing to so many in this season. Below is Alethea sharing their journey in her own words.

Thank you & God bless!!

“The Sheehan’s have exciting news to share! We are adopting! I want to share a bit of our story, and explain how we came to this decision.

As most of you know, we have been struggling with infertility for a while now, both before we got pregnant with Remi, and since he was 12 weeks old.

I was diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis the summer of 2019, and in January of this year I had a surgery to try to correct both of those things. As many of you may know, the surgeries were successful and we conceived in March.

After losing our baby we jumped back into treatments and tried more aggressive measures, none of which have been successful.

We’ve been through every test, surgery, and have tried several different medications. Every month became a cycle of waiting that almost always led to great heartbreak.

Three months ago, we decided we were at peace with not “trying” for anymore biological children, and we both felt God was leading and preparing our hearts for adoption.

I think it’s important to share that both Justin and I have had a heart for adoption long before we started trying to have children. I can’t help but smile when I see how God orchestrates everything, because when I was in my darkest place, someone asked me if I’ve ever considered embryo adoption.

I had heard of embryo adoption, but hadn’t done much research into it. As I slowly started researching, I felt this was exactly the road God wanted us to head down.

For those of you who aren’t familiar, when a couple goes through IVF they could end up with several “extra” embryos. These embryos are either destroyed, kept frozen, or donated. In the case they’re donated, they go into a bank and can be adopted out.

This process is biologically very different than traditional adoption because if the embryo transfer is successful, I will get to carry and birth the baby which is ultimately my dream.

Though it’s biologically different, it is similar in the sense it’s still an adoption, with lots of paperwork and can be a long process. We are asking for prayers through this whole process that God’s hand would be in every aspect! Our initial appointment is coming up in January in Knoxville, TN.

We are anxious and excited for what’s to come for the Sheehan’s in 2021, and we believe this is our redemption story. ”
