PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Shatabdhi Ghar – Heritage home is an intangible heritage being preserved by non-profit community-based initiatives, Kushma Art Project (KAP) at Kushma, Parbat, Nepal. Heritage Home is an almost 300-year-old property with three floors, a front yard, and a balcony. This house is built out of mud, stone, and wood in traditional architectural philosophy. House is spread almost in one ropanies of land at the heart of Kushma valley.

Shatabdhi Ghar is an open platform for creative enthusiasts, a safe space to share, research, educate, and archive their expertise. This is mainly an open stage for everyone from around the world. We schedule residencies on Nepali traditional, modern, and experimental arts, music, playing with mud, crafts, heritage, theater, films and documentaries to exchange, preserve, and educate our historical and cultural properties. This is the first step of the Kushma Art Project to develop Creative Kushma as a colorful valley with flourishing culture, nature, rivers, heritage, ethnicity, religious harmony & arts.

KAP is also actively working to preserve and renovate old heritage sites/properties. KAP aims to spread the responsibility to self and back to the natural home for a prosperous lifestyle, sustainable development, and diversity. KAP stands for preserving nature, heritage, traditional crafts, and rituals.

Alongside the International Youth Volunteer Organization- Leo District Council 325 F Nepal, is mobilizing youths to preserve and promote this heritage home and working with KAP for the renovation of Satabdi Ghar by making their youth organization the main theme of their Tenure which also stands as District President Dream Project.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
- Preserve cultural & historical heritage
- Develop a center for research, literature, art, culture and tourism
- A hub for cultural preservation & social transformation
- Serve as a protective boundary and cultural symbol.

BUDGET ALLOCATION &DETAILS:

  • Develop the front yard as a stone-plated gate at the entrance:

Constructing a stone plate gate at the entrance of this historical site can enhance its beauty and preserve its ancient essence. The gate would likely be made of natural stones like granite, basalt, or sandstone and designed to blend with the site's style and architecture. The stonework would be hand-cut and crafted to perfection, creating a unique and eye-catching design. The wrought iron framework would provide the much-needed strength and durability to the stone plate gate. Overall, a stone plate gate at the entrance of the Satabdi Ghar would be an ideal way to preserve the historical site's grandeur and legacy while adding an element of modernity to it.

  • Open performing & Community Space
Saving our cultural and traditional perspective we want to develop a front yard as NRITYA AANGAN with stone-floored, wooden wings/sittings around the surface which is around 5 Ana. This community space is for artists to exhibit, perform, storytelling & a center for artists to flourish for every creative individual.

  • Develop Pindi as an open installation space
Traditional elements of Nepali architecture are unique in multiple perspectives. We want to develop this space for live music, install and exhibit portraits of legendaries of the Dhaulagiri region, and open space for the community to perform, discuss, storytelling & run Paleti (live music) sessions.

  • Develop the ground floor as an Education & Search center
We want to develop the ground floor as a library, open studio, and research hub. National & international individuals and local people will benefit from this hub. Studio works for storytelling, archiving oral history, and social, and cultural events.

  • Develop the first floor as a museum
We develop this space as a museum of Nepali tradition & lifestyle. Preserving traditional tools, clothing, weapons, musical instruments, and artistic activities. This section attracts tourists and cultural enthusiasts, boosting local tourism and engagement.

  • Develop Balcony as Gallery
Balcony as an exhibition & Installation space enhances the beauty and meaning of heritage homes. WE exhibit national and international artist's work, photographs of traditional heritage, and remarkable events of human interest and history.

  • Develop Attic as a Community Learning Center
The top floor/ Attic is a unique and remarkable space, we develop this space for empowering youth, children, and women with different events and short-term courses, KAKHARA PATHSHALA, Having guests of different disciplines we organize sound healing, storytelling, exhibits & create dialogue for social transformation & change.

CONCLUSION
The restoration and enhancement of the Shatabdi Ghar as mentioned in the breakdown leads to our generation having its own space to speak, research & spread wings. Heritage homes add value in diverse ways. It's our commitment to preservation and progressive community development. This project promises to breathe new life into this historic site and contribute significantly to the region's cultural vibrancy, developing national & international tourism. We eagerly seek your support and collaboration in bringing this multifaceted project to fruition.
