Sharon's Journey
For anyone who has been blessed with the friendship, knowledge and love of our mum Sharon, it's hard to understand why and how she can and has faced so many serious medical challenges.
After having over 20 lifesaving surgeries, including 16 Pacemaker replacements and 3 open hearts our amazing mum has more scars and strength than anyone we know but the battle isn't over just yet...
Unfortunately in November of 2016, she was diagnosed with breast cancer of the left breast and was scheduled for immediate surgery, unfortunately her existing pacemaker was also in the left breast and required to be moved beforehand and so the mastectomy was pushed back.
Mum underwent her 16th pacemaker replacement and relocation in Jan 2017.
She is now scheduled for a full left breast mastectomy and reconstruction in March, 2017 once her new pacemaker incision has completely healed.
Once she's had her mastectomy and reconstruction, she will be undergoing neuro surgery for the 3 prolapsed discs in her neck which means she's unable to use her left hand and arm, being that she's left handed, this surgery is as crucial as any other one... but also means more time off work.
After this new battle began, the three of us girls decided to start this fund to ease some of the financial burden on my parents as mum cannot work.
The specialist appointments, medication, trips in and out of the city, tolls, hospital parking... it all adds up and is an unnecessary stress that could be lightened with a bit of help, so here we are.
We appreciate your prayers and input more than you could know and we believe it's time that our parents shouldn't be worrying about finance issues when they've remained so strong for so long and battled so much.
Let's help lighten the heavy load.
