Spende geschützt
Many of you have joined the Facebook page The Reeves Bunch “ We all are One” over the past few weeks to follow Shane’s progress and to give the family encouragement. Mid-September Shane was experiencing issues with his esophagus and difficulty swallowing food. An endoscopy revealed he has a mass in his lower esophagus. The doctors performed a biopsy and the results showed a rare type of cancer called Leiomyosarcoma.
Originally, the plan was to visit MD Anderson, get a plan of action, and receive chemotherapy in Pensacola. This would allow Shane to be home during treatment with his family. After meeting with his oncologist in Pensacola, it was decided to receive all of his treatments at MD Anderson. The resources in Pensacola were not adequate for Shane’s treatment and he would have a delay in starting. The family did not feel comfortable in the slower timeline due to this type of cancer being rare and aggressive. Shane will visit MD Anderson to receive treatment every 21 days over a 6 month period. After 6 months, our prayer is the tumor will shrink and it can be surgically removed.
If you know the Reeves, you know they always take care of their friends. Many of us have been on the receiving end of their generosity. Shane’s delicious grilled meat, shrimp boils, Connie’s banana pudding, them taking other kids to a game or practice, and the list goes on. They are two of the most giving people. Now we have an opportunity to return the favor.
Connie shared this recently…
“You never really understand how cancer affects people and families
until you are in the grips of this terrible illness.
Priorities change and what life really means becomes so much clearer.”
Let’s join together and support the Reeves family. The funds will not only help with medical bills, but more importantly travel expenses. Shane needs his family with him as much as possible. This Go Fund Me page was not created at their request, but created because a lot of people love them dearly and want to help. Thank you for your kindness and please keep the Reeves family in your prayers.
