We are honored to announce a collaboration between the Student Government Association and the Suffolk University Black Student Union, by hosting a fundraiser in an effort to raise money for a Boston-based community organization! Teen Empowerment Boston
Teen Empowerment (TE) is an organization that seeks to improve its communities, specifically the neighborhoods of Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan, by hosting community events and dialogues with elected officials and community members. The Center for Teen Empowerment, Inc. helps low-income, urban youth hone their understanding of the social problems and use their talents and skills to create change in their own lives and their communities.
This summer, TE's youth within their respective initiative groups have hosted different events centered around Civic Engagement, Education, Mental Health & Trauma Recovery, and Violence Prevention & Intervention. TE’s Civic Engagement team has actively focused on increasing voter engagement within Boston by participating in voter registration canvassing and distributing voter guides. TE’s Education team has focused on the history of education within the City of Boston. TE’s Mental Health & Trauma Recovery team concentrated on sources of trauma in the community and also helped identify positive coping skills. Lastly, their Violence Prevention & Intervention team - focused on why violence exists in the community and finding solutions from youth in the community: they conducted over 100 surveys of youth in the community.
We find this movement truly important and we hope that by your donations, we can all progress our community of Boston!
