Sewing in Sitima Malawi

I'm travelling to Sitima, Malawi to spend two weeks supporting my long time friend Marian Kearney in her on-going work in the area.
Marian spent 2018 living in the village, where a house for volunteers from the charity Network for a Better World stay. This trip for Marian is to catch up with headteachers and continue the work she did last year. We'll be spending time learning and listening as well as supporting and encouraging in whatever way we can.
Each week a women's group meet in the training room to sew, by hand, and have been learning new skills since the group started. I'd like to raise money for them to buy fabric and materials which they can use for making simple clothes, and bags. I've already found my unfinished patchwork projects from before I left home, to see what I can create to show them. It's good to be creating again, and helping others to use simple skills to make useful items.
I'll also be taking a suitcase full of clothing for the community to distribute to those who need it. I've probably already got enough from friends locally to fill this! Thank you :-)
My costs will be minimal, as the priests will collect us from the airport (I'd like to contribute to the petrol costs though) & our meals, washing and cleaning costs will be about £50 a week. The visa for entry is $75. I want to ensure I can contribute to the local economy during my stay, and leave money to support the women continue to develop their skills. Marian says that fabric is easy to get hold of locally, which sounds like it could be fun :-)
I'm excited and delighted that Marian asked me to go. I leave on 25th June 2019.
