Donation protected
During the spring of 2014, a group of my classmates and I will
be going on a trip to Peru through Nyack College. This is an intensive Global
Service Learning Course that will introduces us students to the fascinating
world of human rights with an emphasis on children rights in the context of
violence and severe socioeconomic injustice. The purpose of this course is to
guide you in the learning and analysis of broad cultural, political, economic,
social and religious forces that have shaped Peru and that impact the wellbeing
of children in poorer communities. Issues of special attention will be the
types of violence affecting children, efforts in the access to justice on
behalf of the children, violence prevention, nutrition and education. The
course will be offered in partnership with the Peruvian Christian human rights
organization Paz Y Esperanza. Paz Y Esperanza, works as a Christian human
rights organization which are dedicated to defending and promoting justice on
behalf of persons and communities living in poverty or affected by different
forms of injustice. (http://www.pazyesperanza.org/index2.htm)
