Nepal Volunteer Fund

As some of you may already know I am going to be volunteering in Nepal this August for three weeks.  On April 25, 2015 Nepal was hit with a disastrous 7.8 magnitude earthquake that killed more than 8,800  people and injured more than 22,000 others.  Major aftershocks continue to hit Nepal.  As destruction continues, so does the need for help! I have registered through Projects Abroad to assist in their disaster relief program.  Please click on this link to see what I will be assisting with in Nepal (http://www.projects-abroad.org/volunteer-projects/building/disaster-relief/volunteer-nepal/) including renovating and rebuilding, setting up alternative learning stations for children to continue receiving education, and participating in medical outreach.  


Projects Abroad has been sending volunteers all over the world for more than 20 years, and they are currently in 35 countries. They receive no government funding and, therefore, charge to join their programs.   The fee includes travel costs, food and accommodations with a host family, health and travel insurance, support from local staff, and project materials.  

If you know me personally, then you know that volunteering abroad has been something that I have always wanted to do, something I have always been called to do.  You would also know that I live with a deep sense of empathy and compassion for others, which is why this is so important. I am expecting this to be the first of many volunteer trips abroad, and any funds raised over my goal will be used for the next volunteer trip.  Your support in any form means the world to me!
