Send Monica & Joseph to Dilley, TX

Help Monica and Joseph go represent the families seeking asylum that still being held by immigration officials in Dilley, Texas. Please support us!

The immigration and family separation crisis is far from over.  As Hillary Clinton keeps reminding us on Twitter,  it's now been 11 weeks since the Trump administration was supposed to have reunited all the families separated at the border — and that still hasn't happened. The New Yorker detailed how we're very still much in the midst of the Trump immigration crisis, it's just happening more quietly

The magazine looks at five-year-old Helen who was separated from her grandma and then — according to Trump officials — signed away her rights to have a hearing to be reunited with her family. Also this week we've read about two-year-old kids appearing alone in immigration court  and four-year-olds being deported to Central America without the anyone informing the families to pick them up.

Then, there are the parents who were deported and now are losing their children to adoption.  Also, the concentration camp-style tent city for immigrant children has been enlarged to fit 3,800 children.  Don't worry, there's now medical care, officials say. In just about every case, it amounts to child abuse at the hands of our government.

This all seems hopeless in so many ways, but there are ways to make a difference (in addition to voting, go vote early!). Monica and Joseph are going to head down to Dilley, Texas, in December to provide free legal representation to the families that are still being detained at the  South Texas Family Residential Center. Monica will provide the law knowledge and Joseph will do the translation.

The Immigration Justice Campaign  is a project of the American Immigration Council, American Immigration Lawyers Association, and American Immigrant Representation Project. They provide training and support during our week of volunteering. We just need to get ourselves there.

We're asking if you could chip in to support our estimated expenses:

Flights x2 to San Antonio - $750
Hotel (we'll share!) - $800
Rental car - $350
Gas - about $200
Food - about $500
Anything we raise over our expenses will be donated to IJC.

We would be so grateful if you'd consider giving to support our time in Dilley. We hope to help the families who need it most, and we'd love to get your support. We'll send updates from the frontlines to everyone who gives — and any money raised over expenses will be donated to the Immigration Justice Campaign.

Love,
Monica & Joseph
