Hi my name is Emma Mauri and I am 13 years old. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to venture to another country and engage with the locals on Guanaja Island in Honduras where I will be teaching others how to fly fish, participating in local restoration efforts, and teaching English to the children on the Island.
I learned about Fish For Change from Heather Harkavy, the Program Director, while I was volunteering at the Fly Fishing Show in Denver, CO in January. Fish For Change uses fly-fishing as a platform to make the world a better place and I am so excited to have the opportunity to participate in this mission-type work.
I have been working hard to prepare for this trip. My grandma and parents have sent in my deposit and have booked my flight. The remainder of the funds will allow me to pay my final balance for my stay, food and gratuities to the staff at the lodge.
