Send cookies to Food Bank of Northern Nevada

Help me send DECAdent Cookies  to Saint Vincent’s Food Pantry and Food Banks of Northern Nevada.

I would like to send 30 dozen (360 dozen) home-baked cookies to as many food charities as I can in Northern Nevada, including The Catholic Charities, Saint Vincent’s Food Pantry and Food Bank

Let me give you a little background on why I am doing this.

My name is Jeanne Loo, and I live in Reno Nevada.   Over the past six weeks, since Governor Sisolak issued the stay-at-home order to help control the covid19 virus, I have felt helpless, wishing I could do something for those affected by the lockdown

"So many people are not working all at once. A lot of people are in a situation they never thought they'd be in" — seeking help to put food on the table.”

I am heartbroken to see people lined up outside of Saint Vincent’s Food Pantry because they lost their jobs at the Peppermill and Atlantis casinos, or because they had to close one of their vintage shops on Virginia Street.

I also learned that The Food Bank, the region's largest community food resource, has seen a 30 to 50 percent increase in clients in the past month at its mobile food distributions.

I thought it would be a good idea to start helping all those people in Reno who are affected by the covid19 virus by sending some home-baked cookies to Saint Vincent’s Food Pantry, Catholic Charities, and the Food Banks of Northern Nevada.

Friends of mine who own DECADENT Bakery are offering to bake these cookies in the commercial kitchens of Lattin Farms in Fallon.  We will hand deliver the boxes of cookies over to the food charities to  distribute to the many people laid off from their jobs at the casinos and retail small businesses in Reno, who are struggling to pay for food.

Donations made to this campaign will help me and DECAdent Bakery show our community how much we want to bring some comfort to those affected by this horrible covid19 virus.  All the proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards purchasing the ingredients for the cookies and renting the kitchen at Lattin Farms.

This is the cost breakdown to make 30 dozen cookies:

$70:  Ingredients for cookies—flour, sugar, butter, brown sugar, salt, baking powder, eggs, vanilla, milk, cocoa powder, milk chocolate chips

$12 – $15:  Packaging—plastic wrap to wrap cookies and boxes to deliver the bags of cookies

$87:   Kitchen rental for 5 hours

$69.60:  Cost for round trip travel to and from Lattin Farms at 58 cents per mile

$300:  Total estimated cost (of $241.60, rounded up in case of incidentals), or $30 for three dozen, $300 for 30 dozen
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Food Bank of Northern Nevada, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
