Self-Harm Safety Pride Picnic 2024-2025 Donations
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Gabby and I'm the owner of Safety Over Shame. I've been creating free self-harm safety kits since April 2022 and have since given over 250 free kits to help folks who struggle with self-harm stay safe, focusing mostly on LGBTQ+ youth. The purpose of these kits isn't to demonize or condone self-harm. Instead, they're a way to reduce harm and help folks cope with urges.
As always, my kits are entirely self-funded. Two years ago, I ran a GoFundMe campaign and raised around $400 for the costs of the kit supplies. Last year, I scaled the kits down and raised $115. I decided to keep the same fundraising campaign to accept donations this year under the same goal of $300. Donations in this campaign help me purchase my remaining priority items (totalling $135), pay for credit purchases already made, and store any extra supplies for future events. These kits will always be free and they are happening this year whether I meet the goal or not. I appreciate any and all support!
For a breakdown of what I need the funds for with photos, I made an update post on this fundraiser.
And again to reiterate, these kits are going out regardless and I’ve already made purchases for this year’s supplies, however there’s a few things out of my budget this time around that I’d still like to include. I’ll be making 120 kits for this year’s event and will be donating the remainder to anyone who reaches out that didn’t get to attend the event or to the Equity Service Centre at TMU.
