SELF-CARE PACKAGES FOR FOSTER YOUTH

Self Care helps maintain a healthy relationship with ourselves because it produces positive feelings, boosting confidence and self-esteem. Neglecting ourselves can also lead to health problems, such as anxiety, depression, insomnia and heart disease. I believe the first step in helping others is by motivating them to participate in self-care acts. I want to provide foster youth self-care packages to maintain their overall health and wellbeing.

My Story 
As a former foster youth, I was so busy trying to get things done in my life. I had to deal with being a college student all while trying to survive. I would neglect myself by not eating, sleeping or doing things I love. I was depressed a few times in my lifetime, but even when I was depressed I always wanted to see my fellow foster sisters and brothers succeed. As time went on I became an inspiration to other former foster youth. They would come up to me and ask me all kinds of questions regarding housing, places to find food, transportation and how to apply for college/ jobs. I was so moved by this energy that I wanted to give back and my mission was to serve my community.
