Operation: Magic Baby

Donation protected
Kate and I know we're meant to become parents together. We're using gofundme to help raise money for IVF—in-vitro fertilization. We're on the books for IVF in January, and we're super stoked.

For years I have known that we'd need to use donor sperm. I found out in my 20's that I was infertile, and the news was devastating. I've always imagined myself as a dad and looked forward to raising kids. After the shock wore off, I eventually accepted that I would never become a father, and I told myself I could be fulfilled with creativity. But the idea of being a dad stayed in the back of my mind.

When Kate and I got together, baby-having was a big topic of conversation. She didn’t flinch at my infertility, and her excitement rekindled my desire to start a family. We spent the first years together waiting to 'feel ready' and coming up with magical names for our eventual kids.

Despite 2020 being a toilet, we finally felt 'ready' to start this summer; we tried a few fertility doctors until we found one we trusted. We thought we were just going to need help with insemination because we assumed Kate was fertile. But she was diagnosed with early-onset menopause, and that blindsided us—she's 35, way too young for menopause.

The Doctors made it clear that our best chance of getting pregnant is by doing IVF as soon as possible. We both believe in miracles and the power of intention and prayer. We think that somewhere out there, a little soul (or two!) has already chosen us as their parents, and so we just need to open as many doors as possible to connect with them. IVF is a door we plan to open.

So we turn to you, our friends, our families, and the generosity of our community to help us open the door of IVF so our little wandering soul can arrive. We greatly appreciate donations of any amount; every dollar makes a difference. We also welcome prayers, spells, intentions, visualizations, ceremonies, chanting, incantations, sigils, saint divination, ancestral communication, and good vibes :)

We read somewhere that gofundme pages work best when you're specific about how the money will be used. In general, insurance doesn't cover anything related to infertility, so we have to pay for all of this out-of-pocket. Here's how the fees break down.
