Run For Yemen

Yemen is currently experiencing the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world.

In July 2020, a collective of runners from the BENI Run Club community are pledging unprecedented mileage to raise awareness and funds for drastically-needed aid in Yemen.

The community of runners - men and women of myriad ages, nationalities, backgrounds and abilities - will be completing their socially distanced runs over the course of July.

Each runner has committed to a personal goal ranging from 50 kilometres to 300 kilometres - with the communal target of covering 2,000km in one month - approximately the length of Yemen’s coastline.

We’ve been urging each other on in our solo efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, with runners covering anywhere from 5km to 50km a week. We decided we should put our physical efforts to good use.

Our club mottos are, ‘I hate running’ and ‘start together, end together’ - while we can’t physically complete this challenge together, our community is more united than ever in this mammoth effort to raise much-needed funds, and cover more ground than we’ve ever done before.

Please share our page and donate if you can. We're raising money in aid of SABA RELIEF & DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION LIMITED and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.

Yemen is the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, with more than 24 million people – some 80% of the population – in need of humanitarian assistance, including more than 12 million children. Since the conflict escalated in March 2015, the country has become a living hell for the country’s children.

With COVID-19 now spreading rapidly, Yemen is facing an emergency within an emergency. Sanitation and clean water are in short supply. Only half of health facilities are functioning, and many that remain operational lack basic equipment like masks and gloves, let alone oxygen and other essential supplies to treat the coronavirus. Many health workers are receiving no salaries or incentives, and 10.2 million children don't have access to basic healthcare. - source: Unicef
