Schrater Family Van Replacement

This is a fundraiser to support in replacing the Schrater family vehicle.

Anyone who knows Pete & Tamar, know they serve others constantly and tirelessly, whether they have a lot or a little. They give everything and seemingly have endless capacity to shoulder others’ difficulties. This was recently exemplified yet again when Pete was returning home after a late night house fire where he provided support to the family and firefighters, and found himself and the family van as the only thing between a drunk wrong-way driver and a night highway. Pete has seen fatalities first-hand on that stretch of road, so he did what had to be done to ensure that driver wasn’t going to get any further. The result: a totaled family van and everyone alive.

This van was big enough to haul their 8-person family, plus give others rides when they needed them. It was AWD so they could camp and adventure, and be ready to help folks in the snow and ice. It wasn’t fancy, but it was a mainstay. They’ll get the insurance payoff for it, but it was an older vehicle, and that’s not going to get them very far in today’s market.

Pete & Tamar pastor a local church in Clark County, and Pete is a volunteer Chaplain for the Vancouver Fire & Police Departments, regularly helping people through their moments of deepest grief. We want them to be able to purchase a new (used) vehicle that will meet their family’s needs in a reliable and capable way. Many of you have been blessed by Pete and Tamar, or you know someone who has. They would never seek assistance like this for themselves, but now is our time to show our gratitude and appreciation for all they do. We want to say thank you for their service to our community and the sacrifices they make supporting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our frontline workers and the community as a whole.
