On September 3, 2016 at around 8:30am a good friend of mine, Officer Toamalama Scanlan was critically injured while in the line of duty. He was shot in the head while acting as a first responder on an officer down call at the Fresno County Jail. He is currently in the Intesive Care Unit in critical condition.
Officer Scanlan is a 10 year verteran of the Fresno County Corrections Department. He also volunteers in the community regularly and he is also a football coach. He is supported by His WONDERFUL Wife and 6 Children.
I have decided post this gofundme campain because he is the breadwinner of his household and I know that this tragedy will have a huge impact on his family in the future.
I have had the pleasure of meeting the Scanlan Family 8 years ago when Officer Malama brought is Son Toa over to play football with for Clovis Cowboys youth football program. Officer Malama and I were both coaches on the same team for the next 5 years. Our families became friends immediately and we are still good friends to this day.
The funds will be used to help with medical cost, family bills, day to day living cost and whatever else the the family sees fit. If things take a turn for the worse (we pray they dont), hopefully enough money will be raised to put some money away for his children's college funds.
Officer Scanlan has one of the kindest, biggest and giving hearts anyone could imagine and him being a first responder displayed that. If I were in the same position, I know for a fact he would do this exact same thing for me, if not more. After speaking with his WONDERFUL Wife today, she would be very thankful and appreciative for anything given to help the family through these tough times.
