Protecting My Family from Starvation and Seeking Help to Evacuate from Gaza
My name is Rabah Zayed.
I am a father holding on by a thread.
I have a beautiful family—my loving wife Manal, our six precious children, and my elderly, ill mother who depends entirely on me. Among them is my youngest child, Tayem, just two and a half years old, born with a severe and life-threatening heart defect. He urgently needs open-heart surgery to survive.
From Hope to Devastation
Not long ago, we had a peaceful and stable life. My wife and I ran a small fashion business that we built with love and hard work. Our children were thriving. Our home was full of warmth, laughter, and hope. Then the war in Gaza shattered everything.
Our home and our business were destroyed. We fled death more than once and have been displaced repeatedly. For over two years, we’ve been living in a tent—through cold winters and unbearable summer heat, without basic shelter or safety.
Hunger. Fear. Helplessness.
Every day, I watch my children grow thinner and weaker. We have no clean water, no food, no medicine. I hear their voices crying:
> “Baba, we’re hungry… we want to eat… why can’t we live like other children?”
And I can’t answer. I can’t feed them. I feel crushed—powerless—as a father.
❤️ Tayem Is Running Out of Time
My son Tayem’s heart condition is worsening. He needs urgent surgery outside Gaza, but the hospitals here are destroyed, and the borders are closed.
Every day without treatment brings him closer to a fate I cannot bear.
