Help Save Piscataway Hills!

Residents of Piscataway Hills in Fort Washington, MD are facing the possibility of being forced to abandon their homes following the collapse of the only road leading in and out of their neighborhood. The county's proposed plan would cost $15 million, of which the county is only prepared to pay $11 million, and if appeals to the governor's office in the next two weeks are unsuccessful the county will move ahead with plans to buy the residents out (at a loss). The homes themselves are undamaged, and residents maintain that it is neglect on the part of the county that led to the collapse of the road and the hill surrounding it. They include families with small children, active duty military, disabled veterans, and residents who have lived in Piscataway for more than 30 years, and now the county is telling them that they may have no choice but to leave their homes behind.

The residents are normal, tax-paying American citizens.  They are up against a political army of lawyers and engineers all working to make sure the county is not held accountable for their part in this disaster.

In addition, the longer this drags on, the more likely it is that up to 42 homes will be uninhabitable come winter, due to current temporary above-ground water and sewer lines.  This will be a severe hardship for many of the affected families.

Please help us fund our legal campaign and provide monetary support to these families in the event the County does not allow permanent water and sewer access to be put in place before the weather gets cold.
