Stop PG&E Tree Cutting in Lafayette

Dear neighbors,
Please join our efforts to protect almost 600 Lafayette and Briones Park trees from being unnecessarily removed this year. Without our intervention, Lafayette will experience the largest tree removal in its history.
Large oak, redwood trees, and many other species will be unnecessarily taken down along areas used regularly by Lafayette residents. Removing the trees eliminates natural habitat, reduces shade along trails, changes the character of our town, and destabilizes slope structure. These are important elements of our landscape and the reason why many of us moved here.
Unless we stop them, Lafayette will see the removal of:
* 90 trees on along the Reservoir Rim trail.
* 80 trees up and down the Lafayette-Moraga Trail
* 80 tree nestled in the private yards of our neighbors in Springhill and Happy Valley.
* 20 trees downtown and at the Plaza Park
* 200 trees in Lafayette's Briones Regional Park
On June 26, 2017, Save Lafayette Trees petitioned the Contra Costa County Superior Court to rescind the City of Lafayette’s unlawful agreement with PG&E and block the cutting before it is too late.
We believe we have a strong case and will ultimately prevail. The City of Lafayette and PG&E did not do important environmental reviews prior to signing this agreement, the project is being undertaken for false reasons, and the public wasn't sufficiently notified of this project.
The cost of pursuing this lawsuit is estimated to be $50,000. We need your help! Will you please help preserve Lafayette's character and make a contribution to our legal fund?
The decisions we make today will make an impact on future Lafayette generations.
