And I am special.
I am yet to see the ocean. To fall in love for the first time. To shop with my mother for a dress for my first day of school, in which I will sit at my desk-straight and firm. I am yet to dance with my friends with my body strong and mighty.
To win medals for the sport I love. To have my father walk me down the aisle. To get my very first promotion I will work hard for.
I am yet to live thinking of who I will become and not who I might, to plan and not hope. To live and not fear.
To see the day without tears in my young mothers eyes, without pain that my strong father tries to conceal with a smile. To meet a sunrise without dread.
I am only one years old. My body is weak but my will is strong.
I am only one years old but in the midst of a raging pandemic and the fragile state of my country I have managed to unite the hearts of the whole nation.
I see posters of my face all over the city. The heedful student volunteers running between cars with jars, collecting money. I see salons and stores donating their profits to my cause. I see events being held in my honor. We see it all, it gives us hope.
But the time is slipping out faster than the soft sand on the beaches I fear to never see.
I am lucky to have the support of my people, but as much as it is, it is just not enough.
All the people in my country are doing what they can to give me the chance, but you can save my life, you can give me all that I am yet to have.
The people of the Kyrgyz Republic have collected $1,080,000 but it is only 46 % of the pricy single shot of Zolgensma ($ 2,382,200) . My life depends on a couple milliliters and it is out of my reach.
I am praying for you to hear me. I am asking for you to help me.
