About Turn Moss
Turn Moss is green belt land bordering Stretford, Chorlton and the River Mersey. It is edged by mature woodland and provides a rich habitat for birds and animals, including bats and badgers.
This meadowland is well used and enjoyed by nature lovers, joggers, families, dog walkers and amateur football teams alike. It is currently under threat.
What is the threat?
Trafford Council want to lease a significant area of Turn Moss to Salford City F.C - a football club part-owned by Gary Neville and Singaporean billionare Peter Lim - for their private training ground and headquarters. The includes building a floodlit artificial 3G pitch enclosed by 4.5m fencing and 3 full size turf pitches for exclusive use by Salford City FC.
Turn Moss is a flood plain and building on land prone to flooding is risky & costly, it could endanger the area & local residents.
Our hope is to get the Planning Application rejected. We will then work with the community to enhance Turn Moss and ensure this wonderful green open space remains an asset for everyone.
There is no initial investment from Gary Neville or S.C.F.C, the developement will be paid for by Trafford Council, so the risk is on council tax payers.
Why We Need Funds?
Friends of Turn Moss are opposing this development and need funds to seriously challenge the might of Trafford Council, UA92 and Gary Neville. Initial costs will be for legal help and publicity.
