Robert Greenberg’s Made in New Haven Collection is being rehoused and he is raising money to catalog, label, pack, transport, and re-house this priceless collection of New Haven artifacts.
The Made in New Haven Collection is a rich and diverse assemblage of the city’s material culture. It brings together artifacts from nearly every stage of New Haven’s urban development—physical relics of its industrial, commercial, financial, and non-profit institutions, from early twentieth century paperweights to Stoneware. From indivisual objects, photographs, and paper archives to multi-media ensembles of material relating to specific companies or industries.
The long term plan is to make the Made in New Haven Collection accessible to the public and especially to student groups exploring the city’s past; to become a teaching archive. Every money donated to the Made in New Haven Collection will go to the shipping containers, packing materials, safe transporting, rehousing, insurance and securing of the entire collection, which is the immediate priority.
