Ivan's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Late at night on May 13, I was woken up at 1am by the Gainesville Sheriff's Department informing me that my 16 year old brother Ivan Diaz was found down a 20-30 ft embankment with the SUV partially submerged in a creek. My brother lost control and struck a tree and is now in the intensive care unit in Northeast Ga Medical Center and is suffering from a few broken ribs, fractures in his pelvis, a punctured lung and damage to his brain stem. He is currently unconscious but showing signs of awareness such as reacting to pain and to voices. He's able to move his arm up to his face and pulls at the tubes and wires attached to him which is also a sign of him becoming more aware of the state he's in. He is a student at Johnson High School and planned to graduate early in hopes of attending college to start studying graphic design.
Although things are looking up, he's in it for the long run. A head injury like his doesn't have a quick fix surgery and his recovery process will be very lengthy, requiring his cranial pressure to be closely monitored because of the swelling to his brain. Luckily he was wearing his seatbelt which is what kept him from having any cracks to his skull.
The SUV he was driving was my father's and is totaled. It was my father's only vehicle and is now frantically trying to find a way to get to work. My dad's job offers medical insurance but will only cover a portion of the costs and the longer my brother is in the hospital the more expensive his hospital bills will be. My mother also passed away in July of 2012 of leukemia and we're still receiving medical bills from that. I'm living at home with my dad in hopes of helping him with some of the bills at home but my brother's accident really is putting a strain on us and even more on my dad because he lost his only means of transportation. Times are very tough on my family especially on my dad, I'm just trying my best to take some weight off his shoulders. Any donations wether it be just a dollar or a few cents are greatly appreciated and would mean the world to me. Please and thank you so so so much.
