Residents Against High Density Development

“Harrisburg will be the best small town in North Carolina based on low density housing, excellent economic opportunities, a safe living environment, and efficient and effective municipal services…..”

Many Harrisburg area residents believe the Town Vision is worth preserving and fighting for. With the recent push by Developers to bring “High-Density” projects into our Town we are at risk of losing that vision, FOREVER!!

We have renamed the group to better reflect what so many residents of Harrisburg and surrounding areas are focused on, saving Harrisburg. We are fighting to uphold and save our small town vision while holding our town officials accountable. Many current elected officials ran their campaigns on this "small town" and "voice of the people" platform. We want to hold our town leadership responsible to the residents who elected them.

There are currently 4 developments in the pipeline totaling 592 homes in addition to the approximately 1300 already approved. *10 year goal is 2500 homes
1.) H2018-06-(R) Stallings Road Subdivision
2.) H2018-07-(R) Howie Property Subdivision
3.) H2018-05-(R) Lower Rocky River Road Subdivision
4.) H2018-08-(R) Camelia Gardens, Shea Homes Subdivision on Stallings Road across from Stallings Park

We are not opposed to development and support the right for land owners to sell their land to Developers. But what is ultimately left should add value to our lives and not compromise our quality of life.

The Stallings Road Subdivision is coming up first for Town Council vote on September 10th. Our plea for your financial support is URGENT. This will set a precedent for future decisions that will bring more high density housing projects to our Small Town.

Fighting town government is expensive and should not have to happen if our Elected Officials and Town Staff would listen to our voices. As residents, we have spoken at Town Planning & Zoning Board and Town Council meetings, and communicated through letters, emails, in-person, phone calls and interviewed with 2 local news stations for coverage. As we ask more questions and dig deeper it has become increasingly clear that their apparent constituents are the Developers, not the residents of our town.

We ask you to please contribute as soon as possible to our Legal Action Fund through this page to help offset the expenses of continuing our efforts with the aid of attorneys.

ALL donations will go directly towards legal fees associated with this fight which is currently underway. At the conclusion of any and all legal dealings, any remaining monies will be donated directly to a local charity serving youth and families.
