Help Save the Community Table Restaurant

Opening Doors for a Better Future

The Why:

My name is Mary Kay. I have spent several years of my life thinking of a way I could help and support individuals that live life with mental illness. I have family members who live with mental illness, making this mission near and dear to my heart. On my hunt to find a better understanding about mental illness, I found NAMI, and my life changed drastically. NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness. This organization is where I plugged into a massive support group and started volunteering. This is where it became my personal mission to show my community and communities everywhere that with proper support, advocacy, healthy social interaction, a safe and stable environment to live in, and with proper help in developing a basic job skill sets to procure employment, these individuals can not only participate, but thrive in regular society and live healthy happy lives.

The Community Table Restaurant is more than just a restaurant to come sit and eat. My goal here at this unique establishment is to have all hourly paid employees so that all tips could be allocated to the Steiner House. The Steiner house, which is a non-profit supportive housing program for people that live with mental illness works in tandem with the Community Table. Now when you consider the daily tips coming into the Community Table, it's really the local community that is buying and supporting this housing program. This is an opportunity for these individuals to take control of their lives, be accountable, and take pride in their daily living.  This will get them back on track with confidence, providing them with the proper tools to promote growth, as well as team and individual goal achievement.

* Note: Tips at this time are going to pay the bills* Housing project on hold.

My NEED:

The Community Table Opened 5 days before Covid 19 hit in March of 2020. It was at that exact time I was preparing for my grand opening. I was ready to start my journey to help those who need it most. Then, the world announced that everything was shutting down, there was no end in sight, and for months and months on end the world went quiet. I didn’t have much money to start with but through faith and determination I was able to make this Grand Opening work. It took a lot of faith and a lot of Trust in the Lord to get me to where I am today. All throughout the pandemic I continued to run the restaurant by myself in an attempt to stay afloat financially, beat the odds, and give this dream a real chance to catch on, thrive and grow. Today, I am out of capital and in default of my lease. $80,000 at this point. The unit that I occupy is for Sale, $700,000. I haven’t heard much at all from my landlords aside from a few mentions here and there over the last year indicating that I could stay until they sell it or if I could somehow buy it. Well, that moment has come April 5th 2021, they asked for me to move out. The Community Table needs your help. I want more than anything to buy it and keep it, so we can stay in this unit without fear of ever losing it. Community Table wants nothing more than to change people’s lives and permanently improve the quality of their future. Please consider the mission of Community Table Restaurant and donate today. Your generosity has the real ability to change the lives of others.
