Since it opened in 1912, the Château Laurier has been an integral part of the symbolic heart of our Nation's Capital. Adjacent to the Parliament Buildings, the Rideau Canal UNESCO World Heritage Site and Major's Hill Park, its majestic presence is beloved by Canadians.
Despite a massive wave of public opinion and expert analysis urging otherwise, Ottawa City Council voted on July 11, 2019 to allow the proposed inappropriate addition to the iconic Château Laurier hotel to proceed.
IT'S NOT OVER!
Heritage Ottawa and the Friends of the Château Laurier have heard from countless Canadians asking that we keep fighting to stop a design that denigrates not just the Château Laurier, but the nationally symbolic landscape of which it forms an integral part.
Heritage Ottawa has retained legal counsel. Through this fundraising campaign, we are asking for your support toward Heritage Ottawa's costs of mounting a legal challenge to protect the integrity of this important symbol of Ottawa and Canada.

SAUVEGARDER LE CHÂTEAU LAURIER!
Depuis son ouverture en 1912, le Château Laurier a toujours fait partie intégrante du coeur symbolique de la capitale de notre pays. Adjacent aux édifices du Parlement, au canal Rideau, site du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO, et au parc Major's Hill, sa présence majestueuse est chérie par les Canadiennes et Canadiens.
Le 11 juillet 2019, le Conseil municipale d'Ottawa donna son aval a l'ajout inapproprié proposé pour l'emblématique Château Laurier, en dépit d'un vaste mouvement de l'opinion publique et de l'analyse des spécialistes contre ce projet.
CE N'EST PAS FINI!
D'innombrables Canadiennes et Canadiens ont interpellé Patrimoine Ottawa et les Ami.e.s du Château Laurier à continuer à lutter afin de mettre fin à une conception architecturale incompatible qui rabaisses non seulement le Château Laurier, mais également le paysage emblématique qui l'entoure.
Patrimoine Ottawa a retenu les services d'un conseiller juridique. Par le biais de cette campagne de levée de fonds, nous sollicitons votre appui afin de nous aider à entreprendre une contestation judiciaire pour protéger l'intégrité de ce symbole important d'Ottawa et du Canada.
