Every parent dreams of holding their newborn for the very first time with relief and pure joy. But for a car driver, Maksudur Rahman, that sacred moment turned into a living nightmare.
Shortly after his birth on July 6, 2026, little Baby Talha fell terribly ill, struggling for every single breath. What followed was a devastating, frantic journey rushing from hospital to hospital across Dhaka, pleading with doctors, and watching a tiny, helpless baby fight for his life.
A Heartbreaking Journey of Struggle
- July 6 to July 12: After birth, Talha was rushed between hospitals with severe respiratory distress. On July 11, an echocardiogram revealed two holes in his heart. Though briefly discharged on July 12, his struggle was far from over.
- July 21 to July 23: Nine days later, Talha’s skin suddenly turned dark, then blue. He was barely breathing. Rushed back to the hospital, he was placed on oxygen and treated for severe jaundice under phototherapy. Despite a persistent raspy cough and strained breathing while nursing, he was discharged on July 23.
- The Midnight Crisis (July 23 to July 24): On the drive home, Talha's condition deteriorated rapidly. By midnight, his breathing had slowed to a terrifying level. In the dead of night, Maksudur went from one hospital to another, desperately seeking an open NICU bed.
o Hospital 1: Discovered a third hole in his heart, severe pneumonia, and critical infections, but had no open NICU beds.
o Hospital 2: Turned them away at 2:30 AM.
o Hospital 3: Finally admitted Talha at 3:35 AM, placing him back on life-sustaining oxygen.
- July 24 to August 4: Specialized tests confirmed that a severe, invasive pneumonia infection had entered Talha's bloodstream. Doctors endlessly adjusted medications and treatments while hospital bills mounted beyond reach, yet Talha showed little progress.
Desperate, exhausted, and buried in medical debt, Maksudur brought Baby Talha home on August 4. Today, this loving family relies on hope, faith, and the kindness of gentle souls to help fund the critical medical care Talha still urgently needs.

In sheer desperation, Maksudur took a workplace advance of 40,000 BDT (~$323 USD) alongside emergency loans from friends and family. Repaying these debts strips away nearly a quarter of his monthly income, leaving almost nothing for basic food and survival.
In Bangladesh, stories like this end in tragedy far too often. Honest, hardworking parents reach a breaking point no human should ever face. No parent should ever have to choose between feeding their family or saving their child’s life.
