Satilla River Boat Accident for Lewis Family

Sonny Lewis entered a fishing tournament with several friends Saturday afternoon June 22, 2019 at the Satilla River. What was suppose to be a fun night of fishing with friends, quickly turned into a nightmare within the blink of an eye. The boat that carried Sonny, Micheal Baldree, and Micheal’s son Dawson (6) was parked on the bank for a break when a boat that was running atleast 50 mph driving out of control come around the river bend and jumped the boat which caused Sonny to come out of the boat. Before they were hit, Sonny threw Dawson to his dad (he was sitting between his legs). HE PASSED AWAY A TRUE HERO, but also passed away doing what he loved with a passion.  He was missing for 36 hours, and we became hopeless by Sunday night. His precious wife Trina and family waited anxiously at the bridge for news around the clock. Sunday morning, God intervened, and ended the search for us. We didn’t get our Sonny back, but we found him! For that, we are thankful. We did not have to leave that river without him. From this day forward, we are going to need all the prayers we can get for his wife who was infact his BESTFRIEND, prayers for his parents, siblings, family, and friends. He was a VERY loved person! We are going to miss his silly, goofy, always smiling self more than he would of ever known. Sonny, we hope your catching all the big fish in heaven, and killing the biggest deer too!
