When your business is drugs, money and friendship don’t mix well, at least not when it comes to survival and getting ahead.
My name is Harrison Marx and my best friend and partners name is Ahsan Ali. We had met in the BFA Acting Program at Brooklyn College about four years ago. While in college we had collaborated on many acting endeavors and that still
remains the same today.
SASHA and CREAM are two of latest short films that we have in the works. We wrote both of these films together and will be directing them as well.
Ahsan and I made a pact in the beginning of the year to make five short films by the time 2020 is up, and so far we have been sticking to our word and made three. COFFEE, HEAVY MINUTE, & FAHIM. They are all in the festival circuit this year, some of which have been selected by a number of short film festivals. (Indie Short Fest, Prague International Indie Film Festival, New York Lift Off Film Festival, New York International Film Awards, Golden Film Festival, Chicago Indie Film Awards)
We raised the money for COFFEE with the help of supportive friends, family, and colleagues. HEAVY MINUTE & FAHIM Ahsan and I paid
out of pocket to produce. Now we are asking for your help again in order for us to be able to do what we love and reach our goal to get these two films done.
We are aiming to shoot SASHA the Third week of October and CREAM the second week of December. Both shoots will take about two days each and the entire goal will be split evenly amongst each production.
As artists Ahsan and I have a code of ethics when it comes to
compensation. We believe that everyone involved on any creative
production should be paid for their time and hard work. It seems there
is a common misconception that artists should work for free. In our
opinion that is wrong, storytelling is an integral part of life and the
human experience, and everyone involved on these creative endeavors should be paid.
As artists it is our duty to begin to pay EACH OTHER for our hard work.
This budget will be going towards all the
equipment we need (camera, lights, sound etc), paying all of the
crew and hands on set, meals for the day, transportation, and post
production (editing/film submission fees).
Anyone who donates $300 or more will receive credit as a producer on these projects.
The entire budget is for the crew, hands on set and post production.
Being able to do what we love is all we really want. It is why we chose
this career path.
