Saoirse goes to Haiti

Hi Everyone,
This June, I will be travelling to Haiti as a volunteer with the Irish non-profit organisation, Soléy Haiti. I will be spending just under 5 weeks in Haiti, teaching children and helpin with the construction of houses within the local, rural community of Gros-Morne.
Haiti is still recovering from the devastating earthquake which occurred in 2010 and are still facing enormous economic and social hardships and challenges. Approximately 50% of Haitian children do not attend education. Our aim is to provide a safe environment for children to learn and have fun along with working closely with the people of Gros-Morne in developing a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Over the coming months, I will be holding various fundraising events. All of the project costs, cost of food for the camps, wages for the local construction workers and camp counselors and construction materials will all be paid for with the funds raised by us, the volunteers and through corporate funding.
I know, that at this time of year there are many deserving charities of donations. I would be extremely grateful if you consider helping me in my fundraising to help the local people of Gros-Morne.
