HELP SEND DELEGATES TO NATIONAL CONVENTION (Aug. 2-4) &
SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY FAIR (Aug. 3)
The Santa Fe chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America is sending a delegation of SIX to convention this year. We've come a long way since 2017, when our young chapter sent only two delegates to National. To celebrate, our chapter will be hosting a local "community fair" with a wide variety of community organizations in our city. While the nation will be focused on the Atlanta Convention, our city will be busy building community and solidarity!
Our members are fundraising internally to support the expenses associated with putting on a large community fair, and have already paid a deposit to secure a large public space, accessible to everyone. While New Mexico's residents are enthusiastic about developing community, New Mexico ranks among the highest in the nation in regards to poverty and unemployment. For this reason, DSA Santa Fe is especially asking our comrades from across the country to help us as we organize in the Southwest. Any amount helps!
Here's the breakdown:
6 flights @ $500 each = $3000
1 quad room @ $85 each = $340
1 double room @ $170 each = $340
6 registrations @ $215 each = $1290
Fair expenses (tents, food, signs, space rental) = $2000
= TOTAL: $6970
These estimates do not yet take into account the dues sharing program from National. Our members are making every effort to bring the travel costs down as much as possible. Any amount left over after travel expenses will be reserved for the Community Fair. Any amount left over after that will be placed in our general program fund, which our chapter uses to print materials, secure meeting space, and perform our mutual aid activities.
