Sam's Journey to Nepal with the Nepal Tiger Trust

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Samantha Crotty and I will be graduating from Keene State College in May with a degree in Biology and minors in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Studies. Immediately following my graduation, I will be traveling to Chitwan National Park to work alongside the Nepal Tiger Trust to research and track Royal Bengal Tigers for a month in the elongated river valley of the inner Terai lowlands of Nepal.

The Nepal Tiger Trust is a non-profit organization founded in 2010, that works to grow and maintain tiger populations in Nepal. Through long-term tiger tracking, multi-faceted anti-poaching efforts, habitat degradation prevention, outreach programs, and partnerships with key governmental agencies and the local community, the trust has aided in doubling the tiger population in Nepal over the last 12 years, with Chitwan National Park housing the largest population.

Their incredible success has made them a world leader in tiger repopulation, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to learn from them and aid in their efforts.

I’ll be working with the Trust to specifically track and protect the Royal Bengal Tiger. The tiger species is incredibly valuable to Nepali cultural, religious, and spiritual practices, and a keystone species for the environment. Without these tigers, the ecosystem of Chitwan National Park and Nepal becomes unstable, further threatening the longevity of a delicately balanced system. They also create ecotourism opportunities that allow local residents and villages to provide for themselves, share knowledge of their lands, and broaden the understanding of their long-surviving culture.

I am requesting donations to support the Nepal Tiger Trust in their mission. With your help, I can aid in protecting and growing this essential tiger population, and get the invaluable opportunity to learn so much about a species I have loved since I was little. Your donations will be split with 50% given directly to the Nepal Tiger Trust and the remainder will help subsidize the costs associated with my travel. This includes lodging, supplies, insurance, and transportation.

If you prefer to use another method of donation, my Cash App and Venmo are listed below. Please label the payment as “Nepal Tiger Trust”.
