Help Empower Women in Thailand

Donation protected
Hello Family, Friends, & Fellow Humanitarians,

I've recently learned (and was inspired) from a friend that 60% of Thailand's income come from tourism, while 70% comes from the sex industry. So I've decided to celebrate my birthday in a more meaningful way this year by traveling to Thailand to volunteer my time to help change these statistics.

For 2 weeks in January (13th - 26th), I will be working at Living Waters, a (free) half-way house that provides holistic social support to women with broken lives being treated at Chiang Mai General Hospital. As part of the healing program at Living Waters, women are equipped with sewing machines and taught how to create products and patterns to sell as part of their social enterprise, NAAM.asia, which helps sustain Living Waters. The women at Living Waters and NAAM have taken the lead in helping themselves and other women & girls break the cycle of brokenness...and that's empowerment!

During my time at Living Waters, my mornings will be spent participating in various activities to help women improve their lives and sew products to sell. My sponsors have kindly tailored the experience to my background. As such, they have requested that I also help them identify ways to improve their holistic practice, expand their product offerings, redesign their websites, and develop a marketing strategy to promote their online business. In the afternoons, I will teaching English at a nearby school. And my evenings will be spent cooking, doing chores, and getting to know the single woman whom I will be staying with during my trip.

I know many people would like to volunteer but often aren't able to do so due to various reasons. So I've created this page for those who would like to help "pay it forward" and make a difference in these women's lives through me. Your tax-deductible contribution will help provide resources for Living Waters and NAAM.asia to cover program resources, materials, as well as financially support the Thai woman I will be staying with.

I hope that you will consider contributing the $30 or whatever you may have spent on birthday drinks, dinner, etc. While the experience is intended to impact the lives of Thai women, I know that my life will be impacted from this experience as well. And that's the best gift I can ask for this year.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
