‘FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS’

Samantha…

Your presence would light up the room with your beautiful smile and shining personality

Sadly and tragically that light was distinguished on 2nd August 2007..

Samantha was brutally stabbed to death by a 15-year-old girl, with no chance of survival and pronounced dead at the scene…

68 days before her murder Samantha became a young mother to her beautiful baby boy Callum who she adored deeply.

Today her Mother Alison Madgin and her sister Carly along with the
charity members of ‘Samantha’s Legacy’ aim to raise awareness and
prevention of knife crime.

Aims and objectives of Samantha’s Legacy

-To support children and families suffering a trauma and or the loss of a loved one.

-To support Parent(s) who are struggling with a child due to bereavement in the family through social activity, Networking and
Partnerships.

-To educate and engage with youths, supporting young people’s resilience to the influences and the pressures that could lead to crime amongst young people.

-To encourage schools and local communities to take part in local initiatives to inspire young people to pursue positive alternatives to violence and crime.

To do so by providing cost-free travel and holiday accommodation for such families; along with a range of other tangible benefits to the families suffering a trauma as deemed appropriate by the Trustees or their appointed representatives, and to support other organisations benefiting families in similar circumstances, as deemed appropriate by Trustees.

Alison, Carly and charity members aim to provide Educational talks in schools and within the local community to help engage with youths and deliver awareness of the effects knife crime.

The Reality…

2019 figures show that knife crime is once again on the rise in the North East region. And nationally, knife deaths have reached their highest levels since the Second World War.

The latest stats show police forces in Northumbria, Durham and Cleveland are now dealing with 19 knife crimes a week and recorded a staggering 999 incidents involving a knife or sharp instrument in the 12 months up to September 2018.

The number of offences has increased since 2010, when there were 768 similar offences.

Fundraising...

Raising a regular amount of money can be vital to many organisations. Although Samantha’s Legacy delivers cost free educational talks to
encourage the prevention of knife crime regrettably some families still go on to suffer the heart ache and trauma. It is our organisation who
would like to offer support, perhaps through social activity offering
breaks away or days out for families, children or parent(s). When a family or individual live with so much grief and trauma this can result in some financial difficulties.  Samantha’s Legacy would also like to financially support those deemed appropriate by the Trustees or their appointed representatives. This is where the help of fundraising becomes vital.

Coming up with novel fundraisers not only helps to bring in much
needed funds but could also raise the profile of Samantha’s Legacy.

- Cake Sale

- shave heads

- parachuting or cycling

-Have a month off from cigarettes/ Alcohol.

-Attend an organised marathon or 5k/10k event and raise funds for our charity

Whatever you do for Samantha’s Legacy …. You’ll be helping us to
make a real difference.
