Safe Haven Dogs Veterinary Care

Spende geschützt
It has been 2 years since we have done an online fundraiser to cover medical costs for the dogs in our care.  We try very hard to limit our requests for public support.  During the last month we have rescued 37 dogs for kill shelters.  Unfortunately, six of these dogs and puppies had extreme injuries that have resulted in over $8,540 in medical care.  We always help the underdog, but were not prepared for these expenses over a short four week period.

Gerti – Beautiful young terrier mix arrived limping and ended up needing a repair to her hip socket (Femoral Head Ostectomy).  Her FHO surgery was $900.

Buddy – Young shepherd hound mix arrived missing half of his front paw, a broken elbow on the other side, and a body full of buck shot.  His first surgery to repair his elbow is $2,200; he will require a second surgery to fix his paw.

Stella – One year old sweet Chihuahua arrived with her leg in a cast.  We were told a simple fracture that would heal on its own.  She actually needs surgery to pin her little leg back together and also needed emergency surgery to remove kidney stones.  Both surgeries cost $3,250.

Jean – Amazing sweet dog arrived with a huge misshaped skull.  Closer inspection showed that she had metal coming out of the roof of her mouth.  Her vet visit resulted in emergency surgery to relieve the pressure in her skull from a bone infection.  The infection within her skull was pushing the bone up and yet, she kisses your hand at every opportunity!  Surgery and six weeks of antibiotic cost $1,300.

Gidget and Gadget – Two of the puppies we received broke with Parvo.  We lost Gidget to this horrible disease but were able to save Gadget.  Cost $890.

We are treating and will find homes for these wonderful dogs and puppies.  Adoption fees for these 5 dogs will cover $1,475 of the $8,540 veterinary bill.  We are doing this fundraiser to help offset the remaining $7,065.

Any size donation is appreciated, and none is too small.

In addition, we will have two other fun events planned locally to help raise funds to pay for surgery:

 ·        Chipotle event March 23rd at 1441 S. Randall Rd. Geneva, IL from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.  Up to 50% of the proceeds will be applied to our veterinary bills.  Take your family to dinner and know that you have helped one of these dogs, plus no cooking or dishes!

 ·        Bunco on April 11th in St. Charles.  See our Facebook page for the event listing.  A great night of fun and food for a $20 donation.
