Sadie’s Medical Bills
Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Jenny and I’m raising funds to help cover costs incurred when my sweet dog, Sadie, suffered a stroke.
On the morning of December 15, I noticed that Sadie was limping slightly on her left, front paw. Forty-five minutes later, she couldn’t bear weight on either of her front legs, so I rushed her to the ER. They diagnosed a neurological problem - probably a slipped disc- and sent us home with steroids that should’ve brought about improvement. But instead she was getting worse. My poor Sadie went from perfectly normal to paralyzed and unable to walk in a matter of hours.
After an MRI and consult with multiple docs and a neurologist at a second ER, it was determined Sadie had a large blood clot located in 3 of her neck vertebrae - so her paralysis was caused by a stroke. She stayed in the hospital for 4 days. We were told the chances that she will walk on her own again were 50/50 and we’d just have to wait and see.
Since Sadie’s release, my daughter and I have been caregiving and providing range of motion exercises at home. I borrowed a low cart from work so I can wheel her around from room to room, and bought a 2-handle harness so we can lift her to take her outside. She is in good spirits, although frustrated that she can’t get up. She joins her brother in barking when he sees something out the window - ever the protector! She is now moving her entire front right leg and can bear weight on the back right leg. She’s even pushed herself off her cart a couple of times (she wasn’t hurt.) There is some movement in her back left leg, but not much yet. And her tail is definitely not paralyzed! :)
Sadie has a long road ahead, and we are hoping and praying that she will eventually regain the ability to walk on her own. We plan to take her to PT- today the neurology tech said she could start acupuncture and/or laser therapy even before her re-check with the neurologist in 2 weeks.
I’m typically the one donating to causes, not asking for money, so this is honestly hard for me. But $7277 in ER/hospital totals is a big hit to take all at once on a teacher’s salary. And we still have neurology and PT bills ahead. I’d sincerely appreciate any contribution you can spare toward Sadie’s medical bills. And if you can’t contribute, please send prayers and/or positive energy our way. Sadie is part of our family, and we want to do everything we can to get her mobile again. Thank you. ❤️
