My name is Stephanie Battle. I am a lover of movement and have been sharing movement practices for over 20 years. I have been a dance teacher, a Broadway performer, a choreographer, a singer and a songwriter. I received my 200 hour yoga certification in 2010 and found Dara Cole's Sacred Brooklyn Yoga Studio in Bed Stuy in 2011. This was the beginning of an epic partnership and a connection to the most beautiful and diverse community I've ever known.

We know Dara Cole as a fearless leader and the founder of Sacred Brooklyn-the one who’s shaped our community, the builder of dreams and my long time partner in the Sacred Brooklyn Yoga Teacher Training Program. But she is also a Mom, an incredible friend, a teacher, a daughter, a sister, an ally and a total badass who eats dreams for breakfast!

Since Sacred Brooklyn opened its doors in March 2011, it has been a spiritual home and safe space to so many. Dara has always been ahead of her time, and even with a keen business sense, has always led from her heart. Sacred Yoga Studio in all its iterations (Clifton Pl, Ft Greene, Bleecker St) has maintained its mission of inclusivity, diversity, creativity, and integrity through its wonderful teachers and staff, while steeped in the objective of pleasure.

I have never been more proud to be part of this community. Sacred is my heart.

With Sacred closing all platforms on 7/17 after 10 incredible years, it’s so hard to say goodbye. Our community has now spread far and wide but we are bound together by love.

With the Bleecker St location lost to a recent fire with much of Sacred’s fixtures perishing inside and the Ft Greene location backlogged in rent, it is my wish to give back to this incredible woman and visionary by helping to ease the strain of debt and unimaginable loss that the pandemic has caused.
